About Me

Sandi

Many words can be used to describe me—wife, mother, full-time employee, just to list a few. But when it comes to cooking, especially southern cuisine, the word that best expresses who I am is “passionate’. I grew up in south Alabama among some of the best southern cooks you would ever want to meet. My fondest memories of my childhood and teenage years are gathered around my granny’s table, ready to feast on another of her made-from-scratch spreads. I can only imagine this is how the food in heaven will taste. I loved nothing more than helping her in the kitchen, and she taught me more about cooking than anyone else I’ve known. I never saw her look in a cookbook or at a recipe or anything else that was written down. She just knew how things ought to taste and what it took to make them pleasing to every taste bud. When I put out a meal of my own for family and friends, I can only imagine her at the table smiling her sweet smile and give an approving nod as she takes her first bite.

We love entertaining, and anytime there’s a gathering, there’s almost always food as a centerpiece. Whether it’s a house full of friends from church, the family that visits, or anyone else stopping by, they all love a good old fashioned southern meal. Many of these folks either want recipes or help to learn how to cook southern meals, it occurred to me that just maybe I could combine my passion with a chance to give a little of what my granny gave me to everyone else. This blog will attempt to do just that.

Check-in often for new recipes, restaurant reviews, cooking tips, general thoughts on food, and just general commentary on living a southern life. I hope you like what you find and look forward to spending a little time with you.

Much love,

Sandi
